Elementary School Teacher Position
The Al-Mustafa School is an independent Islamic elementary school located in Surrey, BC.
The Al-Mustafa School opened in September of 2021 with the goal of providing elementary
school education that is deeply rooted in Islamic thought and heritage. The school is located
in a beautiful facility that is nestled within the natural environment of Joe Brown Park.
The school provides families and teachers with the opportunity to be a part of a warm and
spiritual community at Al-Mustafa.
The Al-Mustafa School has a Group 1 classification by the BC Ministry of Education, and offers
KG to Grade 3 classes as a regular program and Grade 4 to Grade 7 classes as part of its
Distributed Learning program for the 2025-2026 school year. The school is considering expanding
the regular program to Grade 9 for the 2026-2027 school year. We are currently seeking qualified
applicants for a full-time Teacher position for the regular program starting in August of 2026.
The primary role of the teacher is to assume responsibility for supporting the academic, social,
emotional and physical growth of the students. Teachers will be trained to adopt the school’s
holistic educational philosophy, and expected to work independently and collaboratively with
fellow staff in nurturing the minds and the hearts of the students. Al-Mustafa also strongly
values its partnership with the parents, and teachers play a key role in cementing this partnership.
Qualifications
- BC Teachers Certification.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university.
- Knowledge of Islam and willingness to develop an environment that is conducive to teaching the doctrines, values and practices of the faith.
- Committed to nurturing a strong Islamic identity and being a role-model for the students.
- Knowledge of pedagogy including instructional strategies and the ability to support students with different learning styles.
- Strong knowledge of the redesigned BC curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management skills and creating a warm and positive learning environment.
- Possessing a warm and nurturing demeanor, and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with students.
- Courses or experience in working with special needs students are an asset.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Recent criminal record check.
Position Details
We are looking for 2 full-time teachers. Al-Mustafa School provides a competitive compensation
package with extended medical and dental benefits. Relocation support might be considered for
outstanding candidates.
